Private Restorative Yoga with Hot Stone Therapy

Restorative Yoga with Hot Stone Therapy combines thermotherapy with restorative yoga asanas (pose/posture) to provide a healing therapy experience.

Stone Therapy is classified as geo-thermo-hydro-therapy that involves the therapeutic use of stone that are heated (or cooled) in water. Origins of Hot Stone Therapy date back more than 5000 years and found in many cultures and ancient tradition of Ayurveda. Stones are used to relieve muscle pain and discomfort, as well as placing stones along the body’s energy pathways to allow prana (life force) to heal on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.

The use of natural Basalt Stones in conjunction with restorative yoga and a specific stone placement uses the power of the Earth’s energies to help one heal. Heated Stones have the benefit of geomagnetism from the Earth source that has a balancing and healing effect on our systems.

During a Restorative Yoga with Hot Stone class, warm and hot stones will be gently massages along areas of tension in the body then placed in a formation directly on the body while the body rests in a restorative asana. The localized placement of heat on body areas increases circulation of fluids, can assist in alleviating organ congestion and may even dissolve masses. When combined with restorative yoga the experience has a significant impact on the parasympathetic nervous system and our ability to rest and regenerate, helping to rest our internal organs, soothe our digestive system and relieve stress. When stones are placed along meridian points, this can assist in removing energy blockages.
